and what are you reading?

currently, I’m rereading Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte)—-telling you right now that I won’t be underlining titles–and Easy to Remember (William Zinsser)—a g-r-e-at book about old composers, lyricists,  and How to Talk about Books You Haven’t Read (Pierre Bayard).

I have just about forgotten everything about Jane Eyre, so it’s like reading a new book—

Easy to Remember is a wonderful book, especially if you love the graphics of old sheet music, and have a whole list of old songs ready in your head.   A favorite line points out that who in the world would have thought of  jumping an octave to start off a song, as was done in Over the Rainbow . . .

and musing about which is more important–music or lyrics?

all for now—lots of company in the house—have to think about dinner—shrimp, sausage and brown rice . . .yea!
