Book Art

Wow!  I just spent a wonderful time with fascinating
book sculptures—tiny, tiny little cut papers wafting and
drifting upwards from the pages of a book.  Entire forests
of cut paper trees standing tall upon open books—with little
paper houses and people portraying classic books like  The Snow
Queen, Alice in Wonderland, Wuthering Heights, Red Riding Hood.

What a great idea!!  I’ve enjoyed making  illustrations sometimes
when I’m reading a book–especially a classic.  But these are just
extraordinary.

Want to share in the online adventure?  Go to
http://sublackwell.co.uk and enjoy the browse through
Su Blackwell’s portfolio, blog, online shop.  Search especially
for ‘Wuthering Heights’ which she has just sold to the Bronte
Museum for its permanent collection.  Maybe you’ll have a
different favorite.

This is paper cutting/scupture at its best.  Not like the old red
tulips we cut out in first grade . . .Su Blackwell–it’s a name I’m
going to keep in mind.
