I was so excited the day I saw this makeup advertising in a magazine–what a
great button backdrop! said I.  And so I started—and am busy filling up 80
spaces—EIGHTY spaces of makeup splashes.  I still have a few blanks to fill
in (must buy buttons!) but thought I’d share these with you.  None of the buttons
on the card is larger than a nickel, and most are smaller than that.

Black glass buttons were made by the millions from 1840 or so until 1965–
I don’t think I have many/any rare ones, but I do like especially the ones
that have backmarks and early brass shanks.  I’ll share a few more and
then let you go hunt for your own to make a card.   I’ve tried to mount only
old ones, but may have to make adjustments as I learn more about buttons.

Some of these glass buttons have embellishments:

Some are “silver lustred”:

And there is an amazing variety!  Thanks for stopping by—next post
will feature LARGE old black glass buttons!
