Some people have asked me how I decide if a book
should receive a 5 button review, or a 4 button review . . .
a 3 button review, etc
Well, I’m lying, no one has asked—but they might!
So, I’ll explain my thinking as it currently rests.
One button: did not like the book, might have tiny recommendation,
and I did finish it
Two buttons: liked it, wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but it was
entertaining
Three buttons: enjoyed reading it, could recommend it to book club,
might reread it someday, don’t have to own it
Four buttons: liked the book quite a bit; good for book club, maybe;
inspired to read more about the author or the subject, etc
Five buttons: loved the book, a desert island type! would like to own it;
will reread it again (and again)
This was helpful! It seems like sometimes you like a book but it might not be a ‘classic,’ also.
Hi Booksilver–it’s a good question to ponder–
should only classics have an edge on the higher button
review?
Hahahah! Well that is a very good question, one that I wish I had asked! Thanks for letting us know. The 5 buttons are gorgeous btw, and the 4 so pretty; 3 quite nice too, in their way. The 2 are nice, but the poor 1 — well, what can you expect? Can’t wait for the 5 button review!
Thanks, Mary Jo. Yes, even I feel a little sorry for the
green “one button” review. I have another button in waiting
to be photographed which I might sometimes use for the one button
review. Stay tuned.
