The Crandall Library in Glens Falls NY

When O’Half and I took a short vacation in late August, we
decided to visit some libraries in the area where I grew up.  One day
we visited the Crandall Library in Glens Falls NY.  This was the nearest
city and the place we would go to do school shopping.  But I had
never been in the library.  Follow along for a short tour . . .

The entrance is off a busy street–Glen Street, which is the “main” street
of Glens Falls.  It is a beautiful bright building inside with brand new
additions near the back.  It is a large library and one of the nicest I’ve
ever been in I think.

There are two floors and it was upstairs that I found the drama section–
sort of a focal point I used for visiting the libraries:

And at one side of the open loft arena was a meeting room which I ducked into to take a peek–
—and I’m so glad I did.  This wonderful painting was on the wall.  It’s by R.L. Christopher.  Gosh!  I love it.  (click to enlarge)

There are bright areas for studying—like these carrels near the windows–
unless you think you’d be distracted–a pretty gazebo outside might lead you
to daydream . . .

Or maybe you’d be better off along this row of comfy chairs.

As I was leaving, I perused a table with several new books being offered.
A woman came into the library and said to me–“If you want a good one,
read   Everything I Never Told You  (by Celeste Ng)–I couldn’t put it down
for two nights.”

So that was a good tip, and I was pleased at having this visit–I could easily
have stayed there a long, long time.
