Don’ts for Girls by Minna Thomas Antrim

Oh, Minna, how smart you were with all this advice–and in
1903 no less!

This little book, just 6 inches by 4 inches has about 300 little
“don’t” quotes for girls to keep in mind . . .

Yes, 1903—and how true some still are today!  I won’t give you
all the quotes–just a few cute ones–and then it’s up to you to carry
on the best you can.

Hm-m-m—the ones I marked last night don’t seem so comely in the
light of day–!  But here are two–

Don’t build castles in Spain.  Build a home in your own land.

Don’t lament because your neighbor’s garden surpasses yours.
Keep hoeing.
