School days are winding down, and with that, our thoughts turn to summer reading lists! Here is my proposed list, starting with three monthly book club selections:
updated 7-16-14 X reflects “finished”
Ross King————–Leonardo and the Last Supper (June) (didn’t finish)
Chris Bohjalian———The Sand Castle Girls (July) X
Thomas Mann ———The Magic Mountain (August)
The Magic Mountain will be my “biggie” this summer. I have
bought a copy so that I can start anytime I want. I don’t seem
to “want” yet!
then, in no particular order, will be:
Susan Glaspell———-Trifles—short, short, short one act play X
and I finished it already! (It’s free on kindle . . .)
Brenda Maddox ——–Nora–a biography of the wife of James Joyce,
have started it, love it X
Jane Austen ————Lady Susan (en Francais) I’ll be reading
it in French, but it’s also available free at www.gutenberg.org
Martha Grimes ——–Fadeaway Girl (on Kindle for price)
for the fun of it
Henry James ———-The Bostonians (on Kindle for 99 cents, or
free at www.gutenberg.org) for stars in my crown & checking off list
Audrey Wilson ———England and Another Shore (recent gift)
Ready? Get set . . .Go!
What is on YOUR list?
You have a nice summer of reading ahead!
Yes, I do! And I dasn’t look at any book reviews to tempt
me away. ♫
I’ve read none of these, so I’ll look forward to hearing what you think of them. Very impressed you’re intending to read the Austen in French!
Well, it’s a matter of the French book in one hand, and the
French dictionary in the other! I think it’s only a short
story . . .
